Welcome Ellers, Severts and Lookiloos...

There's no particular chronology, here. I get pics infrequently and just go though them; "captioning" more than chronicling.
The Labelling Function may come in handy for any specific searches.

Aunt Alice...

This is Aunt Alice Eastridge Hannaford; Grandpa Henry's Half Sister.  I don't remember much about her, except for the infamous "shoe incident".
She had come in from Washington to visit Henry and Dette at the Farm.  Wayde and I were around 7-years-old and, as usual, there to see her.  We made fun of these old fashioned shoes she had which drove her to tears.  How cruel we were to have done that.
I highly suspect (and if memory holds) that we got in trouble and had to profusely apologize to her.

Lizzie, Grandpa Henry's Mother...

This is Lizzie Houck Eller Eastrige Hall.  I know a bit about her.  However, the fact that someone would actually sit to have thier picture taken, with that demeanor, may be the tell-tale.  Think many people crossed her?

Husband of:     William Eller
                             ? Eastridge
                             Ezra Hall

Mother of:     John Walter Eller (b. 1888)
                          Grandpa Henry Harvey Eller (1893)
                          Bessie Geneva Eller (1897)
                          Charles S. Eller
                          Will Eller
                          Alice Eastridge
                          Emery Eastridge (??)

     Lizzie got around...
She married William, who died when Grandpa Henry was 11.  She "farmed out" her children to friends because she wasn't able to care for them (more to follow on this aspect of her life, later).
Then...
Then she married a Mr. Eastridge, he was rather a ne'er-do-well.  Had two more children and left him.
Then...
Finally, she married Ezra Hall.  Moved with all the kids Out West and lived out the remainder of her life in Washington State.  Ezra was had an Apple Orchard in the Yakima Valley.

Boarding House in Winston-Salem...

Grace and Ruby lived in the same Boarding House in Winston-Salem, NC during the mid-50s.  The house is now the location of Bernardin's Restaurant at the Zevely House.
Brother Frank lived nearby.  These were taken in the Parlor.

Ruby met her future husband around this time:
Richard Hayworth

Our Only War Dead...

This is Charles Eller, Grandpa Henry's brother who was killed during WW I.  He was buried at the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery in France.

Getting Dolled Up for a Special Event...

This is Grace getting her hair done by Ruby.  The date was easy for them to tell me; Sept. 24, 1955.

 Grace and Rufus' Wedding Day!

Wayde's 5th...

Wayde, the Birthday Boy, on his 5th.

Rose and I weren't far way...

"Play Date" at the Eller Home...

Here is the Eller Home.  Judging from the scene, it's a week-end in 1966.
On the porch from left to right is Kathleen Eller Little, Rufus Gilbert and Richard Hayworth.  Wayde (left) and I are on the steps with Rose, Michael and Sam Little in the yard.

Off To Camp...

This is Wayde and Me before going to Raven Knob Scout Camp.  That's Ruby and Grace, Rose and Mark with us.

Jeff...

Here are The Regulars (Wayde, Rose and me) on the Eller Farm with Jeff

Jeff was Henry and DeEttte's Collie.  Wayde and I rode, yes rode, the poor beast as toddlers.  He was proof that everything good you hear about Collies is true.  He gave Wayde and Me a great companion and loyal sidekick at the Eller Farm.

Henry on King...

Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy...

Clifford, The Farmer...

"Jet Setter" until he settled on the Eller Farm.

I miss him, terribly.  He was wonderful.

Wayde and Doug at the Eller Home...

As children, Wayde and I spent more time with Henry and DeEtte during the Summer than we did with our Parents.
We had "forts" and "houses" in the woods and the run of the place.  There probably isn't three square feet on the Eller Farm we can't tell you a story about from our escapades.
When we got older, maybe 7 or 8. Grandpa Henry would to give us each a quarter to go over the Tom and Hattie's Store.  There we'd trek ever the hill to buy Soda and Moonpies.  If one knows the trek, can you imagine letting kids that young make that hike alone, today?

In this photo, we're sittting there. contently.
 (Rose, standing)

Is it "Harvey" or "Harmon"?

For some reason, Grandpa Henry's name is in small dispute.  His COD (Cause of Death) Certificate has him listed as Henry Harmon Eller.  News to me, who always knew him as Henry Harvey.  It also played a little havoc in my genealogical search.
For the Record, Harvey is correct; but this did cause a bit of confusion.
Aunt Ruby told me he always signed documents "H. H. Eller". Hmm.
